Growing a Leader

“Before you are a leader, success is all about growing yourself. When you become a leader, success is all about growing others.” —Jack Welch, American business leader and former CEO of General Electric

Growing – and helping others grow – is something that we take to heart at Loma Vista Nursery.  That’s why we’re especially proud of our propagation manager Brooke Stamm, who received an Emerging Leader award at the recent The Western trade show hosted by the Western Landscape and Nursery Association. The award recognizes outstanding leadership from an emerging professional in horticulture who is younger than age 35.

Brooke is in good company with this recognition, as only the third recipient of the Emerging Leader award. She was honored for her professional excellence in horticulture and for her demonstrated commitment to the industry.

In her role at Loma Vista Nursery – where she oversees planning future crops, taking and establishing cuttings and managing perennials — Brooke regularly demonstrates leadership skills by setting and reaching high standards of performance and inspiring others to do their best work. Understanding the parallel importance of nurturing for success, she is driven by a natural sense of compassion.

Like the process of propagation itself, Brooke has helped the industry grow and thrive by working closely and collaboratively with others. In addition to her outstanding work at Loma Vista Nursery, she is an active participant in the International Plant Propagators Society. She also shares her time with members of local FFA chapters, helping them with plant identification for state and national competitions.

Another hallmark of leaders is their ability to continually improve. Brooke seeks out information and resources to learn new and better ways of doing things and, importantly, takes the time to listen and share.

Join us in congratulating Brooke on this achievement – and inspiring others to be strong, growth-focused leaders, too.
