Plants We Love

Valentine’s Day is around the corner. From flowers to chocolate and everything in between, plants are still our favorite gift. From enhancing physical and mental health to improving the environment and providing stunning beauty, we cannot help but fall in love with plants. Here’s a few of our favorites.

Azalea Karen

Stunning lavender-pink blooms appear from April to May on glossy evergreen foliage. Plant this variety in Zones 5 to 8 and enjoy pollinators like butterflies and hummingbirds. An excellent landscape plant, shrubs reach a mature height and spread of 3 to 4 feet.

This azalea loves acidic soil in the pH range of 5.0 to 5.5. Make sure to cut off spent blooms as soon as possible. We love the azalea’s evergreen foliage, which adds winter interest.

Sedum Kamtschaticum

Let your landscape or container shine with yellow star-shaped flowers on our sedum kamtschaticum. Blooms attract pollinators, while green foliage adds texture and interest. Plant in Zones 3 to 8. Mature plants will reach up to 6 inches tall and 10 inches wide and can be grown on slopes or banks for erosion control.

This stonecrop is salt tolerant, deer and rabbit resistant and long blooming. Plant in sunny locations with 10-inch spacing between plants. We love this variety for its low maintenance, high durability and erosion control.

Hosta ‘Blue Angel’

Add vertical interest to a rain garden or shaded landscape with this heavenly hosta. We love Hosta ‘Blue Angel’ for its low maintenance, beautiful blue-green foliage and delicate flowers. Flowers appear lavender and mature to white blooms.

Grown in Zones 3 to 8, this hummingbird attraction reaches a mature height of 2 to 3 feet and spread of 3 to 4 feet. Plant in full to partial shade and blooms from July to August. Make sure to provide plenty of water so soil does not dry out.

My Monet Purple Effect® Weigela

Variegated cream-and-mint leaves mature with a purple hue to create an incredible foliage display. Foliage is accented with light pink blooms in late spring. Grown in Zones 4 to 6, this weigela offers improved adaptability over the original My Monet® weigela. Plants reach a mature height and spread of 1.5 to 3 feet.

A truly versatile plant, My Monet Purple Effect® Weigela can be used in containers, mass plantings, borders and as groundcover. This shrub offers a neat and tidy appearance and needs little to no pruning.

Create an outdoor space you love this spring with these stunning varieties. We hope you love them as much as we do. To learn more about other varieties we offer click here.
