Lead one of the Midwest's Premier Wholesale Nursery Operations

Loma Vista Nursery is seeking an experienced operational leader to help shape the future of growing, production and operational excellence across one of the Midwest’s premier wholesale nursery operations.
Family-owned and rooted in long-term relationships, Loma Vista Nursery serves independent garden centers, landscape contractors, and wholesale distributors throughout the Midwest and beyond. Our operation includes a 300 acre container production facility and 650+ acres of field production, and is home to a wide assortment of pot-in-pot trees, shrubs, perennials, ornamental grasses and field-grown trees.
We are seeking a Director of Growing & Operations to lead nursery production, operational systems, labor leadership, logistic coordination, and strategic operational planning as we continue building the next generation of leadership at Loma Vista Nursery.
This opportunity is ideal for a proven operational leader with experience in nursery production, greenhouse operations, specialty crop agriculture, or large-scale agriculture operations who is looking to make a meaningful long-term impact within a stable, growth-oriented organization.
Responsibilities
- Lead Container and field production operations
- Oversee labor planning and operational efficiency
- Develop production systems and accountability metrics
- Coordinate cross-functional operations including growing, shipping, inventory, and logistics
- Lead and develop department managers and supervisors
- Improve forecasting, labor utilization, and operational scalability
- Support long-term operation growth initiatives
- Maintain high plant quality and production standards
Qualifications
- 10+ years leadership experience in nursery, greenhouse, agriculture, or horticultural operations
- Proven experience leading large teams and complex operations
- Strong operational and organizational leadership skills
- Experience with labor planning and production scheduling
- Systems-oriented mindset with strong communication skills
- Bilingual Spanish preferred but not required
- Bachelor’s degree in horticulture, agriculture, business, or related field preferred
