Loma Vista Nursery was founded in 1991 by Mark Clear, a former MLB Baseball star with a passion for plants. Since the company’s founding, the nursery has grown into the operation it has today with the help of every member of our united team.
We’re proud of our plants, but we are even more proud of the legacy we’ve created from Clear’s initial vision.
From Baseball Fields to Fields of Plants
Loma Vista Nursery has shipped throughout the Midwest since 1991, but our roots in horticulture run deep. Founder Mark Clear first discovered his passion for plants working on a California avocado ranch in his youth. His lifelong dream of becoming a nurseryman was thrown a curve ball when he signed to play professional baseball in the year of 1974. Throughout his career as an
All-Star MLB pitcher, Clear continued to pursue his love of horticulture. He purchased a nursery in southern California in 1979 and operated that nursery until he retired from baseball in 1991. He then moved to Kansas, bought property and continued following his passion growing plants and selling plants.

Continuing Our Family Legacy
Today, Loma Vista Nursery remains family owned and operated. We apply the same persistent pursuit of achievement that allowed Mark a successful 17 year career in MLB. Because of our focus on healthy plants, timely delivery, and unrivaled value, the nursery operation has grown to one of the largest in the midwest.
