Meet Laura, Our Accountant!

Loma Vista Nursery: Employee Features

We at Loma Vista Nursery are not only proud of our plants, but we are also proud of our operations and the people who work here, which is why we are going to start featuring blogs and videos about the people who make up our incredible team and how we run our nursery.

Introducing: Laura Snider

We wouldn’t have a business without our plants; however, we also wouldn’t have a business without our finances. That’s why our accountant, Laura Snider, is one of the most pivotal members of our Loma Vista team.

Laura has been with Loma Vista Nursery for five years this coming May. She’s in charge of our accounting office and works with anything money related such as payroll, customer and vendor accounts, and budgets.

Dedicated Ottawa Native

Laura grew up right here in Ottawa, KS where our main operation is located. She graduated from Ottawa HS and then earned a degree in accounting from Baker University. Laura had the option to work away from her hometown, she even had an internship up in Kansas City, but she chose to stay here because of her dedication to the community.

When Laura isn’t working on our payroll or budget at the nursery, you can find her walking her dog, Ollie, in Kanza park or spending her time with the Ottawa Area Young Professionals (OAYP), a group committed to connecting young professionals in the area to get them more engaged with the community. She is a part of a four-person board for OAYP and has helped plan various events such as volunteer opportunities and a speakeasy at the Historic Post Office in Ottawa.

Laura is also involved in the Leadership Franklin County class, a nine-month program run through the Chamber.  The community greatly appreciates all that Laura does for it. In fact, she even made the front page of our local newspaper this week. Check out the article HERE!

Why Loma Vista?

While there are many things that Laura appreciates about Loma Vista Nursery, she is most grateful for the people she works with. “We really feel like a family here,” says Laura. For her, Loma Vista Nursery is different than other companies because everyone she works with is kind, has each other’s backs, and most of all, are committed to working hard and helping one another out.

She also appreciates living and working in the Ottawa community since she values her involvement in the town as well. “I have a great work/life balance, and I get to do it in the community I love,” she says. Sometimes her job allows her to combine her work and community life together since Loma Vista Nursery is dedicated to helping out the community. Last summer, Laura was a part of a Loma Vista Nursery service project that donated and planted perennials and shrubs around the Old Depot Museum downtown.

We could not be prouder to have her on our team at Loma Vista Nursery. If you see her around town, be sure to say hi and to ask her what fun events are happening in the community since she is heavily involved.
